As chocolate eggs fill the shelves this Easter, Complete Fertility is encouraging women to pause and think about a different kind of egg, their own.

Whether you're thinking about starting a family soon or simply wish to understand your fertility options, knowledge is power. That is why Complete Fertility is encouraging women to learn about their egg reserve and getting tested using a simple Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) blood test and a consultation with a fertility expert.

The AMH test offers a snapshot of your ovarian reserve and how many eggs you have left. It’s a simple blood test that provides a valuable insight into your reproductive timeline.

Mrs Polly Ford, Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Complete Fertility explains:

“It’s about empowering women with the knowledge they need to make informed choices about their future. You don’t have to be trying for a baby to take an interest in your fertility health. Knowing your  AMH level is a simple, proactive step that can arm women with essential knowledge if they are planning a family now or in the future. Combining the result with a consultation with one of our team will give women the best chance possible.

Unfortunately, many of our patients only discover how crucial age and egg reserve are when they’re already exploring fertility treatment. Over the past decade, the average age of women starting treatment has steadily increased, and sadly, the chances of success decrease with age.

By understanding our fertility earlier, women can take control, explore options like egg freezing if needed, and plan with greater confidence. It’s also important to note that NHS funding for fertility treatment is age-dependent, making early awareness even more valuable.”

So this Easter, while you’re unwrapping treats, take a moment to think about your own timeline. Egg freezing and fertility awareness aren’t just for “later,” they’re for planning smartly today.
