Infertility Awareness Week
Each year, National Infertility Awareness Week provides an important opportunity to shed light on the experiences of millions of people facing infertility - and to remind them that they are not alone.
According to the WHO, infertility affects 1 in 6 couples. This shows how common - and often invisible - these struggles are. Whether it’s due to medical conditions, age-related factors, or unexplained causes, infertility impacts people of all genders, backgrounds, and life paths. That means, chances are, someone you know - whether a friend, colleague, or family member is experiencing or has experienced fertility challenges.
Despite how common it is, infertility is often misunderstood, stigmatised, or met with silence. This week is about changing that. This week and every week at Complete Fertility ’s about raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and fostering a more compassionate, supportive environment for anyone affected by infertility. No matter what stage of building your family you are in, it’s important to understand your fertility.
The “1 in 6” statistic isn’t just a number - it’s a reminder that infertility is not rare. It's something that impacts millions of lives, and it's time we talk about it more openly and compassionately. When we share that 1 in 6 people experience infertility, we’re not just raising awareness - we’re helping normalise the conversation. We’re saying: this is something real. This is something valid. And most importantly, you are not alone.
During National Infertility Awareness Week, here are a few ways we can all show support:
- Listen without judgment: Sometimes the best thing you can do is listen and be there for someone who is sharing their experience.
- Learn more: Understanding the causes, treatments, and emotional effects of infertility can make you a better friend or partner.
- Share stories: If you feel comfortable, sharing your own journey can help reduce stigma. Infertility is not something anyone should have to go through in silence.
This week - and every week - let’s work toward a future where every person navigating this path feels seen, supported, and empowered, and support others on the same path.
At Complete Fertility we’re proud to be part of the support system for anyone facing infertility. We’re here to provide expert care, trusted guidance, and emotional support at every step - because we know how much it matters.
If you have been trying to conceive for more than 12 months (or 6 months if you are over 35 years of age) without success, we recommend you book your appointment with a fertility specialist.
