Breaking Down what’s Included in our Female Fertility Tests
Fertility tests can offer you peace of mind if you’re preparing to conceive. We often know very little about our fertility until we try for children and at that point, it can be frustrating. But, you don’t have to struggle alone, because our team here at Complete Fertility can offer you a first-class service for fertility testing.
We offer fertility testing for both male and females. Our fertility tests are designed to make sure that you have the utmost clarity on your fertility status. This article will focus on female fertility tests.
What’s Included in our Female Fertility Tests?
The Ovulation Test
When it comes to fertility, it is important for you to make sure that you are actually ovulating. If you’re not ovulating, then your ovaries will not release an egg, which makes it impossible for the egg to be fertilised and implanted in the uterine wall. One of our first fertility tests is designed to make sure that you’re ovulating normally. We do this using a simple blood test, which will be able to keep track of the hormones in your blood. Once we know if you’re ovulating, we’ll be able to explore other tests to make sure that we have the full picture.
The Ultrasound Scan
Another issue that can impact your fertility is the uterus. Fibroids and polyps can both impair conception, making it difficult for the fertilised egg to attach itself to the uterine lining. While neither of these things is particularly dangerous (they are often not signs of uterine cancer), they can impact your chances of having a baby. One of our female fertility tests is an ultrasound scan, which can pick out any signs of these fibroids or polyps, as well as checking the size of the ovaries, the size and number of follicles and the presence or absence of ovarian cysts.
The Anti-Mullerian Hormone Test
Unlike men, who make new sperm frequently , women are born with their lifetime supply of eggs and over time these eggs gradually decrease in quality and quantity. This particular hormone test checks your ovarian reserve. This is the amount of eggs you have. This test checks Anti-Mullerian, a hormone that is present in the cells of the eggs developing in the sac. The level of the hormone in the blood is a good indicator of the quantity of eggs (this test does not check the quality of them). This is a simple blood test that we can perform at any point during your menstrual cycle and can be analysed quickly in our on-site laboratory. You won’t be waiting for weeks for your female fertility tests.
The Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Test
The thyroid isn’t a part of the body that we tend to think about unless something has gone wrong. The thyroid hormones are essential for regulating the body’s metabolism, and any imbalances can significantly affect mood, energy and libido. It can limit your chances of getting pregnant, so it’s important to test for the hormone during your fertility testing. We will check for both hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid) or hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) and help you to create a tailored plan to fix any issues that we might come across.
